“Asterix and the Banquet” is a comic book first published as a serialized story in Pilote magazine in 1963. In this story, the Romans palisaded the Gaulish village to prevent the Gauls from escaping and harming the Roman Empire. But Asterix bets the Inspector General that he can make a journey across Gaul. To prove it, he will bring a specialty from each region. The Inspector General agrees to the bet and so Asterix and Obelix embark on a true “Tour de France”. The Tour de France was also the inspiration for this story. Therefore, in this episode, we will also look at this cycling race, which takes place annually in July in France and its neighboring countries.
“Asterix the Gladiator” is the fourth volume of the Asterix comic book series, by René Goscinny (stories) and Albert Uderzo (illustrations). It was first serialized in the magazine Pilote, issues 126–168, in 1962. In this story, Cacofonix the Bard gets captured by the Romans. He is brought to Rome as a gift for the Emperor Julius Cesar. Cesar commands Cacofonix to be thrown to the wild animals in the arena during the next event. Asterix and Obelix are trying to rescue him, but doing so, they must become gladiators.

“Asterix and the Goths” (French: “Astérix et les Goths”) is the third volume of the Asterix comic book series, by René Goscinny (stories) and Albert Uderzo (illustrations). It was first published in 1963 in French. In this story Getafix attends the conference of the druids in the forest of the Carnutes and gets kidnapped by Goths. They want him to help them to conquer the Roman Empire with his magic potion. But Asterix and Obelix are on their way…

“Asterix and the Golden Sickle” (French: “La Serpe d’Or” = “The Golden Sickle”) is the second volume of the Asterix comic book series. It was first serialized in Pilote magazine in 1960 and is about a trip of Asterix and Obelix to Lutetia to get a new sickle for the druid Getafix.
