Asterix and the Banquet | ACC #091

“Asterix and the Banquet” is a comic book first published as a serialized story in Pilote magazine in 1963. In this story, the Romans palisaded the Gaulish village to prevent the Gauls from escaping and harming the Roman Empire. But Asterix bets the Inspector General that he can make a journey across Gaul. To prove it, he will bring a specialty from each region. The Inspector General agrees to the bet and so Asterix and Obelix embark on a true “Tour de France”.
The Tour de France was also the inspiration for this story. Therefore, in this episode, we will also look at this cycling race, which takes place annually in July in France and its neighboring countries.
