In Service of Her Majesty – The Aristocrats – By jove, these Brits! | ACC #134

“The Aristocrats” is a group of fictional characters featured in a comic book series of the same name created by Alfredo Castelli (texts) and Ferdinando Tacconi (drawings) in 1973, published in Corriere dei ragazzi and reprinted several times in Italy and abroad. On the thirtieth anniversary of the series’ debut, an exhibition was dedicated to them.
In this episode Jarmo shows the history of these unique characters and takes a look at their first adventure.

Walt Disney’s Funny Pocket Books Nº1 (in the new edition simply Funny Pocket Book 1) is the first volume in the Funny Pocket Book series, which includes, among other things, the story “The Columbus Butterfly” (original Italian title “Paperino e la farfalla di Colombo”) and was published for the first time on October 1st, 1967. In this episode, Jarmo takes a closer look at the story of the Columbus butterfly and introduces the man who wrote and drew it: the Italian comic artist Romano Scarpa.

Bad Dreams – Valerian and Laureline – Bad Dreams are Made of This | ACC #130

“Valerian and Laureline” is a French science fiction comic series about two agents of the Space-Time Service, which operates from Galaxity – the capital of the future.

The drawings are by Jean-Claude Mézières, the texts by Pierre Christin. The comics were colored by Mézières’ sister Évelyne Tranlé. The first story, “Les Mauvais Rêves” (Bad Dreams), appeared on November 9, 1967 in issue #420 of the comic magazine Pilote. The series has been translated into various languages, for example English, Swedish, Portuguese and German.
