However under the direction of Paul Verhoeven, RoboCop became a surprise hit and recieved critical acclaim. In 1990 Paul Verhoeven would make another forway into the sci-fi genre with the Philip K Dick adaptation Total Recall, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
